Purpose & The Project Office
The USAID financed Hunton & Williams Kyiv Project Office was operated from May 2000 to July 2003 to assist in Ukrainian power sector reform, under a contract for the United States Agency for International Development. The project was managed on-site in Kiev by Paul Ballonoff of Ballonoff Consulting Service. The task had two main components.
USAID Ukraine Energy Regulatory, Legal and Market Development Support Project
To assist in privatization of power sector companies to strategic investors, and to improve the legal and regulatory environment for effective operation of these companies after privatization, with minimal undue intervention by government.
USAID Coalbed Methane Support Project
To facilitate the development of the Coalbed Methane (CBM) industry in Ukraine.
